Top Surf Destinations

PENICHE - AREIA BRANCA, Portugal – This is a famous tourist spot for longboard surfing in Portugal! You will find fun loving crowd all over the place, and always something happening around your adding more excitement to surfing, boating, or whatever you may do.

Lanzarote, Portugal - located 100 km off the Moroccan coast, Lanzarote offers an exotic surfing spot! You may find both the local tourists as well as others from all over the world.

Fuerteventura, Portugal – It has amazing surfing beaches to suit all categories of people, with the most consistent surf found on the North West coast!

Pelourinho, Brazil – With crowd coming from all over the world, this place offers a great surfing experience with typical dances going on all the time!

Baia de Todos os Santos, Brazil – enjoy the Bahia’s typical dance and culture, and have a great time surfing on the beach!

The Silver Dragon, China – Located along the Qiantang River in Mainland China provides exciting surfing action. Although not very famous amongst the tourists, but this is a very exciting place to be!

Rest Bay in Porthcawl, South Wales- It is one of the closest surfing destinations for any land-locked surfer, which is just about couple of hours away from London!

Old Man’s, San Onofre State Beach, California - Located 80 miles south of Los Angeles, the San Onofre State Beach has continuous on-going exciting longboard dashes which have a rich history. The crowd is really fun loving, and you must pay a visit to get a real feel of this thunderous spot!

Banzai Pipeline, North Shore, Oahu - You needn’t be a great surfer to appreciate its sheer power, you would be dazzled by the marvelous waves which can take excitement of surfing to the next level!

Supertubes, Jeffrey’s Bay, South Africa - Popularly considered one of the finest right-hand point breaks in the world; the place has lots to offer a surfer and is definitely worth a trip!

Grace Bay- Considered one of the last frontiers of the Caribbean, this place is a good spot to chill out although there’s hardly much happening around!

Esperance beaches, Australia - located on the south coast of Western Australia, the place offers variety of places with breath taking surfing spots all around.

Sandy Bay, Cape Range, Australia – With the pure white sands laid out in the perfect arc, the place offers dune camping, a great snorkeling, any many other activities of its kind, nothing more that would want or rather that you would need, heaven indeed!

Wreck Beach, Vancouver, British Columbia – located closely to Fraser River, this beach is a ideal place to go, for an artist on a budget as many of the city’s dancers, frequently visit the beach!

France (south): Contis plage- Although not a grand beach, but a great bodyboard surfing beach having good sand, clean sea and the lovely exotic French women!

Barleycove, West Cork, Ireland – an awesome place having a coastline, with lot of beautiful beaches, with loads of dunes and weird rivery things that flow through the sand and divide up the beach nicely. However, the weather can ruin it so better watch out for it!

Brittas in Wicklow is another popular one near the coast, offering lots of fascinating stuff, but not affected by bad weather as such!

Malaysia: Pantai Kok, Lankawi Island - a beach having large, curving, white sand, a friendly beach bar, and frequent short thunderstorms which clears the air before it gets sticky.!

Malta: San Blas Beach, Gozo – Out of the several beaches that can be found on the island, this is one of the most remote as well as the prettiest and most tranquil.

Mexico: North beach, Isla Mujeres, Yucatan - Tucked away on the north-east corner, this place is a popular holiday destination for North Americans looking for a little sun and lot of surfing!

Myanmar Sandoway beach - located on the East coast of Myanmar, the beach is one of the almost perfect beaches in the world. The place is very calm and peaceful. The water is crystal clear, giving a soothing effect. This has to be one of the cleanest beaches in the world undoubtedly!

New Zealand: 90-mile beach- located far North; this quiet and wide sandy beach can be driven along from end to end. It’s popular for swimming, surfing, fishing boating and all the activities of its kind. You might not find too many tourists from outside but the place is indeed very exciting!

Oman: Muscat beaches - all beaches in the area are incredible, and the coastline offers many of the best coral reefs west of the Great Barrier Reef.

Magdalena beach, Santander, Spain - Has a bar on a balcony overlooking the sandy beach where you can boose excessively and enjoy chocolate con churros until you burst out!

Chaweng Beach, Koh Samui, Thailand - With the bars, shops and restaurants just a hundred metres inland, this place is a nice spot for surfing as well.

Al Mamza beach, United Arab Emirates: Located in Dubai, with crystal clear sea, this is one of the warmest collections of beaches, especially in summer, and is ideal for snorkelling.

United Arab Emirates: Khorfakkan beach – located on the eastern side of the UAE, it has superb coral reefs off the coast and the breakers coming in off the Indian Ocean that are excellent for wind and body surfing, nice spot to stay.

HighCliff, UK– Full of the local crowd, a place which is attraction for surfing mostly for the foreigners who are looking for a change!

UK: Hayle beach, Cornwall - three miles long, excellent to surf, especially down by the Godrevy lighthouse. It also has the benefits of fewer tourists and fewer die-hard surf dudes!

UK: Holme-next-Sea, North Norfolk - a nice quiet and relaxing beach. Holme-next-Sea is a great favourite, with smooth, flat sandy beach, rolling sand dunes and a gorgeous village pub with a huge beer garden in the village.

UK: Calgary Bay, Isle of Mull - The best beach for camping and relaxation, having lots of pubs around, you can enjoy the beer and stretch yourself out calmly and go for surfing anytime you like. A pretty good place to be, very pleasant, although the weather can be erratic at times.

Gullane Beach, east coast of Scotland - The beach offers fantastic white sand, and loads of dunes to hide in or have sausage sizzles, a perfect version of the good old barbecue. You would surely love to spend a couple of days, as the place offers wonderful ambiance.

Loch Brittle beach, Isle of Skye, UK - With the menace of the Black Cuillin hills behind, it’s one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, having lot of scenic beauty. Apart from surfing the waves you can relax and spend couple of peaceful days here surely. The environment is truly pleasant, giving you the wonderful feeling of tranquility and serenity.

UK: Isle of Wight - having 67 miles of coastline, including sandy shores, chalk cliffs, marshes sandstone, cliffs and river estuaries, but mostly popular for its sandy beaches!

USA: Juno beach, Florida – one of the nicest ones, although you might find a lot of traffic all around. One of the famous places in town, with lots happenings all over the place and nearby, offering a good spot for surfing!

USA: Mustang Island National Park, Texas – Although partly a proper beach, it is only occasionally crowded, and has a fantastic combination of sandy beach, huge beautiful dunes, assorted wildlife

USA: Naples, Florida- located near the Everglades and on the Gulf of Mexico, makes it possible even in the winter to go down there and look at the snow on the sand dunes and the sea gulls being blown backwards by the westerly gales.

USA: Santa Cruz, California – has pretty good weather, making it good for surfing and boating. The sea air is great for allergies, and you can find some great salt water taffy there, so better take good care of your health while you hang around this place. Although a very good place for surfing except the sea sickness for allergic people.

USA: St. George Island, Apalachicola Florida - located in the Gulf of Mexico next to Apalachicola Florida. The water is almost blue-green and is clear. Watching the tide or surfing is a great way to spend a lazy day. Luckily you can get to watch the dolphins playing as well!

USA: Sand Key, Clearwater Beach, Florida – it is a somewhat promising name for a good beach, seeing as most of the better ones are made of sand. It is one of several keys off the west coast of Florida, and although it isn’t the biggest beach (that accolade goes to the nearby Clearwater Beach, which is a couple of miles long), it certainly is the best.

So no matter where you choose to go and surf you can be sure that if you stick to the top 100 destinations you will have a thrilling ride surfing the waves!!
